I probably say this every month, but this month of Berlyn's life practically FLEW by. She is almost a 1 1/2 year old and it freaks me out! Pretty soon I'll be getting ready for her 2nd birthday, ahh! I have also come to the realization that she is 100% her mother's daughter. She has an attitude like me, and she is also stubborn. I just pray it doesn't stick around for too much longer. This little girl is already getting time outs for hitting... hitting! Lord, please don't let my child be the one that no mothers want their kids to be around!
As I sit here watching my little girl play, learning new things, it really makes me think back to when she was just barely learning how to make sounds with her mouth. Now she is putting together sentences. She knows when we are telling her to do certain things and knows when she's in trouble. Sometimes all it takes is a look from me for her to realize she is doing something that isn't good, and she will stop and say, "Hi." Her little self thinks that she can get away with anything just from muttering that little word. What a stinker! Did I mention that she repeats EVERYTHING we say?! Even when I spell certain words she will say it! It could have been a fluke, but it definitely freaked me out! Along with talking more, she is also acting way more independent than she used to be (as if that's even possible). She doesn't like when we feed her now. She likes to use her fork or spoon and do it all herself. Usually she will just end up holding the fork while she eats, but at least she feels like she's a big girl ;)
Since we are talking about eating, does anyone else have a somewhat picky toddler? I swear, I used to be able to feed Berlyn anything. Now she has an aversion to certain textures like mashed potatoes and yams. And, call me a bad mom, but she had her first Happy Meal today! It was kind of cute, watching her enjoy her tiny little box of French fries and eating her bite size chicken McNuggets. That isn't something I do often at all - I just thought it'd be cute to see her reaction!
Berlyn is in size 2T now, which really broadens the spectrum when it comes to shopping for her clothes. She also wears her Saltwater sandals (size 5) almost everyday. I am so glad I invested in getting her those, she loves them!
Berlyn also has quite an obsession with taking baths. Any time she even hears the bath water running, she will stop what she's doing, look at me, and say with excitement, "Bubbles!" It is so cute when she does it... not so cute when she does it when I want to take a shower. She ends up crying, saying, "Bubbles" with the saddest face you've ever seen. It happened this morning before church. I actually caved and let her take a bath while I curled my hair. I have to say it worked out well!
And, I am proud to say that Berlyn now says "Please" and "Thank you!" It is the cutest thing, but sounds more like, "Beets" and "Day doo." I always use those words when I talk to her so I think she just picked it up from hearing it all the time. She knows when to say it too, like after I hand her something or when someone else gives her something. Makes my heart melt ;)
But, I digress.
I hope everyone had a long, restful weekend. Tomorrow it's back to the grind for me. Happy Sunday!
Stopping by from Instagram! Berlyn is such a sweetie!! Looking forward to following here, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Sara! Thank you! So glad you can follow me here too! :)
DeleteOkay Berlyn is seriously SO SO stinking cute!! I can't get over it! When did she start speaking more? I'm worried that Sophia is behind because she only says a couple words.
ReplyDeleteThanks mama! She talked a lot before she was a year then she stopped for a bit when she started walking. Just in the past few months she has really started using her words to communicate when she's hungry, etc. Every baby is different though!!!
DeleteShe is such a s art cookie!! Harps does the same thing when she's being naughty and I look at her and then she says HI! I love miss B and love watching her grow into a beautiful little girl!!! She's amazing and so are you!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, thanks mama!!!! Love watching Harps grow up! It's crazy being able to watch her grow through IG! So glad we found each other! :)
DeleteOmg she is such a little lady! Except for the hitting haha. It's crazy how they change from one day to another. Mikey stopped repeating words and he won't say any new ones and he will be 17 months in 2 days. He loves baths too. As soon as I turn on the water he throws all his toys inside the tub and is ready to jump in. I like watching your vines and I love when she says "hi" it melts my heart
ReplyDeleteAw thanks girl!! He sounds like a sweetheart! It sounds like the hitting thing might be a phase... I hope!!!
DeleteI've heard girls move faster than boys... Brady refuses to speak except for the word hi and Abby our dog:/ can't wait to see you Sunday!
